Today, let’s discuss a topic that often gets a lot of people worried: “bad” aspects in a chart. If you are concerned about these aspects, I assure you, you don’t need to worry. Let’s dive into these difficult aspects in our astrology charts.

Understanding Difficult Aspects

First, let’s clarify what we mean by “bad”, “difficult” or “challenging” aspects in our chart.

Typically, this refers to squares and oppositions in your business or natal chart. 

But here’s the interesting part: astrological research shows that some of the most successful and wealthiest people, including billionaires, have significant challenging aspects in their astrology charts — both natal and business.

In fact, the vast majority of them have squares and oppositions — including to the money indicator planets in their chart.

An astrological chart that purely has conjunctions, trines, and sextiles is incredibly rare. But if you had a chart like this, what is more likely going to happen than incredible success is actually laziness and apathy.

There is no real drive or momentum to do anything with the skills and talents. We need difficult aspect patterns in our chart. We need them to push us, to challenge us, to create dynamic tension that pushes us to do something special. 

Turning Challenges into Opportunities

I have a saying that goes along the lines of “Turn your squares into stairs and your oppositions into opportunities.”

It’s all about working with our squares and oppositions when we find those hard aspects in our astrology chart. 

Next time you look at your chart, don’t be disheartened by the red lines. Instead, consider how these hard aspects in astrology have helped you accomplished what you have achieved in your life.

My Personal Experience with Hard Aspects

Let’s take a look at an example from my natal chart. 

As you can see I have many red lines, and yet, I’ve still been very successful in my life.

Mars Squaring Jupiter

This aspect can be a bit tricky because it creates some tension, especially regarding expansion.

See, Jupiter in my first house is all about freedom and exploration. It wants to roam and see what’s out there.

On the other hand, Mars working hard in my fourth house in Capricorn brings in this disciplined vibe. It’s all about hard work and achievement.

So, you can imagine, these two don’t always see eye to eye. But you know what? That tension has actually been a blessing in disguise. It’s pushed me to take risks, like quitting my job to work from home and start my own business.

Sure, it’s been a bit nerve-wracking at times, but ultimately, that square between Mars and Jupiter has been the kick in the pants I needed to chase my dreams and carve out my own path.

Mercury Opposing Chiron

Another challenging aspect in my chart is Mercury opposite Chiron, which reflects a significant part of my life.

Chiron, often called the “wounded healer,” points to a deep hurt that’s been with me throughout this lifetime. It’s linked to the eighth house, which deals with heavy stuff like trauma, especially around death.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had this intense fear of death. Then, when my boyfriend passed away at a young age, it hit me hard. It’s been tough to talk about and express how much it affected me, and to be honest still does.

But you know what? Out of that pain came something unexpected—a spiritual awakening. Suddenly, I found myself searching for answers, looking for beliefs that could help me make sense of it all.

And that’s where astrology came in. It gave me a framework to understand things, and now I’m teaching it using my Mercury in the second house. That house is all about practical stuff, like using your skills to create something valuable. I call it the “entrepreneurial house.”

So, even though this opposition in my chart is tied to a really traumatic experience, it’s also led me to something positive. Sure, I wish things had been different, but I’ve learned that sometimes, out of pain comes growth. And that’s something worth holding onto.

Mercury Squaring the North Node

Mercury in the second house is also squaring my North Node in the 11th house.

My Mercury would be happy just to sit and write and create all day. But with the square up to this North Node, it’s imperative to show up in community and teach.

This creates that challenge of “no, you can’t just write, you can’t just create, you need to show up and engage, as well.”

Embracing the Hard Aspects in Our Astrology Chart

I could dive deeper into the challenging aspects of my natal chart, but I want to emphasise that these aspects shouldn’t be seen as negative.

We all have them—oppositions, squares—they’re part of the cosmic blueprint. In fact, I’ve yet to come across a client without a few red lines in their chart.

What really matters is how we handle them. Instead of seeing them as roadblocks, we should view them as stepping stones. Every square can be turned into stairs, and every opposition into an opportunity.

So, next time you’re scrutinizing your chart, don’t let those red lines get you down. Instead, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this? How can I harness this tension to propel myself forward?”

Because those challenging aspects often hold the key to our most significant achievements. They’re the fire that fuels our ambitions, the catalysts for growth. So embrace them, learn from them, and let them guide you towards your dreams.
