Have you ever heard people refer to “Capricorn Season” but not understood what it means?
Well, Capricorn season starts when the sun moves into Capricorn and several other personal planets join it during the month-long transit of the sun through Capricorn.
Capricorn is an earth sign and brings a hard-working, disciplined, and responsible energy but it can also manifest in a rigid and judgemental energy.
Dates:
December 22nd-January 19th
Ruled by:
Saturn
Ruling house:
10th House – Career and Public Recognition
Mantra for Capricorn Season:
Step by step I can reach my dreams and master my domain.
Best things to focus on during Capricorn Season:
It’s time to solidify those visions you had in Sagittarius season and do something with them – it’s the perfect time to set goals and New years resolutions. But make sure that you break them down into smaller manageable steps and tasks!
Personal Planets in Capricorn:
Mercury –
Mercury is retrograde as we move into Capricorn season and so spends most of Capricorn season in Sagittarius (moving out of Capricorn on the 24th December) only moving back into Capricorn for the last few days (on the 15th of January).
The best way to harness the Mercury in Capricorn energy is to focus on being responsible and masterful with your communications to express your sacred message.
Where is Capricorn in your chart?
To find Capricorn in your chart you will first need to create a chart at astro.com if you don’t have it already.
Then you will want to look around the edge of the chart and find the Capricorn Glyph.
Then look at which house(s) Capricorn spans in your chart to see which areas of your life Capricorn season is likely to play out in.

In my chart below you can see that Capricorn spans my 4th & 5th house and my Mars is also natally in Capricorn in the 4th house (working from home is totally my jam!).
In the first part of Capricorn season, I need to channel energy into communications with my family over the Christmas period and then I get to channel it more creatively (and pleasurably) as we move into the new year.
I’ll be honest Capricorn season is probably my least favorite in many ways – don’t get me wrong it’s when I take long holidays with my family but my inner Ruler/Workaholic is just itching to get back to my goals and get the new year started! I’m hoping Mercury retrograde might help me with this obsession a bit! My family is also quite fiery – hello Mars in Capricorn in the 4th House – so it’s not always the easiest time emotionally for me.
