Have you been wondering what the Astrology of 2024 holds for you? To do this you need to understand the global astrological energies.
But first, let’s reflect on the year that was…
2023: Shall we build foundations or get stuck?
2023 saw us return to a new business as usual in a “living with covid” world where we had to start repaying the debt.
2023 had a strong Water and Earth Energy with two of the slower moving planets in each element. Water and Earth make mud which we can get stuck in or we can use to build foundations.
Jupiter shifted from the independent, bold, and spontaneous Aries into grounded and embodied Taurus. This offered (and continues to offer until May) the chance to make solid progress toward a dream or long-term goal; and put down the roots for longevity and success.
Saturn moves into Pisces and we have had to explore a more intuitive and cyclical approach to structure in our lives.
Pluto dipped its toe into Aquarius and then back into Capricorn representing a tentative energy towards the evolution and transformation that society now needs to make over the next 20 years.
Uranus continued its debilitated transit through Taurus and we have seen the financial impacts of recession post-covid with soaring interest rates.
Neptune blissfully moved through its home sign of Pisces.
The nodes shifted into Aries and Libra where they’ll stay for 2024
The Astrology of 2024: A year to blend logic and intuition and Strategy and Soul
To understand the Astrology of 2024 we need to understand the placement of the slower-moving planets.
The Astrology of 2024: Major planetary positions
Jupiter in Taurus & Gemini
Jupiter starts the year in Taurus
Whilst in Taurus you can expect to see the results of your work as it offers the chance to make solid progress toward a dream or long-term goal; and put down the roots for longevity and success.
Jupiter in Taurus rewards dedication, focus, and hard work and it is a good time to focus back on the solid foundations to support our visions.
From May 27th, 2024, Jupiter moves into Gemini, and it is considered in Detriment here – this means that it is not an effective sign for Jupiter to be in.
Jupiter is expansive and a little irresponsible and Gemini is often scattered and unfocused – together these energies are less than conducive.
The exception to this could be activities related to writing and publishing or learning if you can maintain focus and knuckle down.
Saturn in Pisces
Saturn shifts from innovative Aquarius into dreamy Pisces.
On March 7, 2023, Saturn entered Pisces and will stay there until May 25, 2025, before taking a brief detour into the sign of Aries. Saturn will then re-enter Pisces on August 31, 2025, and remain there until February 13, 2026.
With Saturn’s shift into Pisces, you’ll want to prepare for the inevitable clash between fantasy and reality. In astrology, Saturn is the planet of karma, maturity, responsibility, and self-discipline. When Saturn was in Aquarius, there was a global shifting of traditional work structures and travel. With Saturn shifting into sensitive Pisces — the new challenge will be focused on maintaining momentum when Saturn is in a sign that is not a natural or productive energy for it.
Saturn in Pisces might bring on passive or avoidant behaviors because Pisces energy wants to wear rose-colored glasses and live in their fantasy world rather than face the challenges of reality. Meanwhile, Saturn knows that we need boundaries, limits, focus, and continuous effort to achieve our goals. This means that to move forward, you’ll need to balance idealism and reality.
You might find that you feel somewhat confused or disillusioned about the extra responsibility that comes your way or you might feel low energy and lack of motivation.
The key question you need to ask yourself is am I meant to consciously focus on taking action and being responsible or am I being called to slow down and have a more introspective year? However, remember that Saturn will be in Pisces until May 2025 so you may not want to chill out for quite this long!
Uranus in Taurus
Uranus continues its long transit through Taurus (19-27 degrees) impacting financial systems and stability around the world. Globally we are experiencing a post-pandemic depression or recession.
We can expect ups and downs in our individual finances and changing values.
Neptune in Pisces
Neptune will continue to be in Pisces throughout 2024 and we may feel somewhat confused about this new world order and our place in it.
However, Neptune is at home in dreamy Pisces so it can fully express itself here. This energy can feel somewhat slow, sluggish, or stuck and you may feel disillusioned or confused in your life.
It’s a time when you need to surrender and slow down rather than fight the energy. If you can do this you’ll create space to hear the soul callings and usher in a wealth of creative and spiritual energy
Pluto in Aquarius
In 2024 Pluto finally moves permanently into Aquarius which is astrologically significant as it has been in Capricorn since late 2008. This is thought by some astrologers to be the true start of the age of Aquarius.
When Pluto enters a new sign, everything about the way we view our lives and our society as a whole changes in unprecedented ways.
On the 21st of January 2024, Pluto settles back into Aquarius to begin its uninterrupted 20-year journey through the sign of rebellion, innovation, and change (with a very short dip back into Capricorn from September -November).
Pluto moving into Aquarius in 2024 is all about self-liberation and the forward progress of more egalitarian and humanitarian ideals.
When Pluto, the planet of death and destruction, finds itself sitting in Aquarius, the sign of the rebel, you can almost always count on challenges to existing authoritarian systems and a collective need to harness community strength.
As evolutionary astrologer Rose Marcus explains, Pluto’s transit through Aquarius marks times of rebellions, revolutions, and significant social progress.
“What may be unthinkable, radical, outlandish, bizarre, or extraordinary today can become the norm of tomorrow’s reality,” writes Marcus.
Pluto in Aquarius marks the era of destroying all the inequity in our systems so they can be rebuilt to better serve the collective.
This shift anchors the Age of Aquarius, which was set in motion by the 2020 Jupiter-Saturn Great Conjunction and the Saturn-Uranus 2021 squares.
Lunar Nodes
The lunar nodes will continue their retrograde spin back in the signs of warrior Aries & relationship-oriented Libra throughout 2024.
Relationships become a focus as we need to balance our desire for freedom with the requirements of our intimate relationships.
You may find yourself moving away from aggressive social conformity and more easily towards independence and individual expression. And while all signs will feel the effects of this shift, naturally, Aries and Libra placements will be impacted the most.
Historically, this nodal cycle has coincided with major discoveries, including the dwarf planet Eris—which was transiting through Aries when discovered on January 5, 2005. Eris was named after the goddess of discourse and strife, fitting for anything that falls under the reign of warrior Aries.
Things accelerate with the North Node in Aries
Committed relationships face some challenges but it can also be a time of progressive changes as the first legal, same-sex marriage ceremony in the U.S. occurred on February 12, 2004, another year the South Node was moving through Libra)
With Aries ruling war while Libra rules peace this cycle is sure to bring awakenings around personal power and the power of collective institutions.
If you have your nodes on this axis you’ll experience a north or south node return and north or south node opposition.
Between January and April, the Nodes activate Chiron in Aries, which may bring up wounds that occurred in early 2023.
It’s a time to focus on healing the part of your chart ruled by Aries.
All healing modalities and spiritual advancements will be in focus.
The Astrology of 2024: Annual Aspects
We have certainly had some heavier years when it comes to annual aspects, 2020-2022 had some significant and difficult aspects to deal with. 2023 provided a respite but in 2024 the shift of Pluto into Aquarius ramps things up again. The following are some dates to note in your diary!
January 21st – Pluto moves into Aquarius
This is a momentous event that occurs every 248 years (approximately) – read more about this above.
February 19th – Chiron conjunct the North Node in Aries
This aspect brings a focus on healing, dealing with, and working on our wounds by taking action and by helping others.
21st April 2024 – Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus
From March 20 to May 20, Jupiter expands the innovative, rebellious, and unexpected energy of Uranus.
Jupiter exactly conjuncts Uranus on the 21st April 2024 and around this time we might see some light at the end of the financial tunnel.
Overall we can expect to see changes in the financial markets, as well as in climate change.
Perhaps we’ll see relief from raising interest rates or see a surge in consumer confidence and increases in spending.
They may bring innovations and unexpected opportunities, especially relating to technology, online learning, and travel.
May 18th Sun & Jupiter Conjunction & May 23rd 2024 Venus and Jupiter conjunction in Taurus
These could be very lucky days for some, especially those with other planets in Taurus or are a Taurus rising or have a Taurus midheaven.
Firstly Jupiter and the Sun combine bringing a sense of optimism, enthusiasm, and luminosity to the way you show up in the world.
Then a few days later Venus the planet of money combines with Jupiter the planet of expansion and abundance in the sign that rules technology and astrology. A great time for launching programs or offerings.
August 19th & December 4th – Jupiter in Gemini square Saturn in Pisces
On August 19 and December 4, Jupiter expands Saturn’s three-year-long process of destroying the established structures so new ones can be built.
The financial markets could suffer at this time, so these are good dates to keep in mind concerning investments, launches, and other financial decisions.
This is an important turning-point event in a longer 20-year cycle that began in December 2020.
