The reading was the first yes but what do you offer her after an astrology reading? Here is how to build the offer she says yes to next.

She emails three weeks after the reading.

I keep thinking about what you said. I’d love to do more with you.

It is the best email you’ll get all month. And then you sit there, cursor blinking, trying to work out what “more” is. So you offer her another reading, maybe at a small discount, and something in you deflates a little as you hit send. She books it, or she doesn’t.

Either way, you both know it wasn’t quite what she meant.

In my last post, I wrote about the five minutes at the end of a reading where you invite her into a next step. This post is about the part that comes before the invitation: having a next step to invite her into. You can’t open a door you haven’t built.

Why another reading doesn’t feel like a next step to her

A second reading repeats the first. She has already had the overview. She already knows the shape of her year, the tension in her chart, the thing she is here to do. What she is asking for now is help acting on it, and a reading on its own can’t give her that, because it ends when the call does.

That is why the repeat booking so often stalls. She wanted company for the next leg of the journey, and you offered her the map again.

Your readings can be brilliant and still leave her with nowhere to go so what do you offer her after an astrology reading?

What the deeper offer is actually for

In my Asterism Client Journey Framework™, the step after the first yes is called the Deepening. It is your proven method, delivered over time. The extended journey where the real change happens. The reason she came to you in the first place.

The simplest way to find yours is to go back to what the reading showed her. Ask three questions.

What did the reading show her she needs to do? Not what it described. What it asked of her. Reposition her work, plan a launch, finally raise her prices, make a decision she has been circling for two years.

How long does that realistically take? Most real change takes a season. Three months is a natural container for a business decision to be made, tested and settled. Six months suits something bigger.

What will you hold for her in between? This is the question most astrologers skip, and it is the one that makes the offer worth more than the sum of its sessions.

Give it a name she can say back to you

Here is a test I use with my own clients. Can you describe the offer in one breath? What it’s called, who it’s for, what changes, how it runs and what it costs.

“It’s called Chart to Launch. It’s for business owners ready to turn what their chart showed them into an offer they’ve actually launched. Three months, three sessions, and I hold your plan in mind between them. It’s $1,500.”

That is one breath. She can say it back to you. She can tell her partner about it at dinner, and he’ll know what she’s buying. Compare that with “we could do some ongoing work together if you like”, which leaves her to imagine the outcome, the length and the cost all on her own, and most people decline what they have to imagine.

The name doesn’t need to be clever. It needs to tell her where she’ll end up. If she can hear what changes for her in the name of the next offer, you have done your job.

(Your price depends on your work, your market and the section below.)

Price the holding, not just the hours

This is where most deeper offers go wrong, and I see it constantly.

The astrologer adds up the sessions, then takes a little off, because it feels fair to reward a bigger commitment. Buy more, get it cheaper. It is retail logic, and it is completely reasonable if you are selling coffee.

You are not selling coffee.

When a client works with you over months, she is buying something no single session contains: you holding her business in mind between the calls. I think about my Mastermind clients when I am not speaking to them. I see something on a weekend and think, that is exactly what she needs.

If they go quiet, I worry about them. I hope they are OK and I check in.

That holding is part of the work. It deserves a price, not a discount.

Here is a quick check. Work out the price per session across every offer you have. If your deeper offer is the cheapest hour on your menu, your pricing is telling a buyer that more of you is worth less. The Deepening should sit clearly above a single reading per session, not below it.

One note of care. This is for when you are building or repricing the offer. It is not a reason to raise the price on someone who has already bought.

What I learnt the hard way

For years I had a busy readings business. People loved the work, the calendar was full, and I still couldn’t reliably pay myself a salary. I nearly went back to a corporate strategy job.

The readings were never the problem. What was missing was the path after them. Every client finished, thanked me warmly and left, and the next month I started again from zero.

These days the shape of my own business is the thing I teach. A first step that earns trust, then a deeper journey where the real change happens. In the Academy, that deeper journey is the certification, Level 1 into Level 2. I didn’t invent the shape because it looked tidy on a diagram. I built it because I got tired of watching my best clients who wanted to keep working with me leave with nowhere to go.

Start with the clients you already have

You don’t need to launch this to strangers. The fastest way to test a deeper offer is to write down the three clients from the past year who would most likely say yes, and ask yourself what continuing or re-engaging would actually look like for each of them. If the answer is the same three times, you have found your offer.

Then name what changes. Shape it. Price it in one breath.

And the next time someone emails to say she’d love to do more with you, you will know exactly what to say.

Build it with me in November

The deeper offer is one star in a bigger picture: how a practice moves from one-off readings to consistent income, without adding more readings to your week. See the bootcamp

Reading about it and building it are different jobs, which is why I am running Readings to Retainers this November. Three mornings on Zoom where you name, shape and price your deeper offer while I am in the room to tell you whether it holds. Recordings included, from US$97.
