Early on in my business I was having a massage at a local day spa. I had decided that since I was working full time, had a baby AND was starting a business that least I could do was treat myself to a monthly massage.
Anyway I was lying there and I remember feeling frustrated that my business wasn’t taking off, as I was drifting off into my massage I asked myself/the universe/some higher power “why is my business not taking off??”. Like seriously I was doing everything I possibly knew how and it was still not where I wanted it to be. As I lay there something happened. I’m not quite sure how to explain it. I’m not sure if it was a voice, or whether I saw the words or whether it was just a ‘sense” but the message came to me direct and clear.
“I’m giving you everything you can handle right now and when you are ready for more….you’ll get it”.
It was so obvious. I was working full time. I had a baby and at this stage I was only doing 1:1 coaching and I couldn’t have fit in more clients if I tried. In other words I couldn’t have handled more sales or more abundance if I had it knock on my door. I had to change something before something would change. Click To Tweet
You don’t get what you are not ready for.
Fast forward 4.5 years to my most recent launch…a disappointing launch
In January my mother-in-law had open heart surgery…with complications. We nearly lost her and that shook us to our core. From February-April I was dealing with multiple health issues including back and neck pain (and a diagnosed spinal disease), adrenal and thyroid issues but I pushed through and launched the e-Course Launch Formula with a big hairy scary goal to double my last launch – that would have been over $400k.
I ended up sick with a serious infection for the last 2 weeks (and most important part of the launch).
I knew my mindset wasn’t where I needed to be.
I knew I wasn’t practicing the amazing self-care I had in my previous $200k launch.
I wasn’t exercising every day, getting regular massages, listening to my affirmations and guided meditations or any of my other “launch rituals” because I was so sick.
I had sessions with my kinesiologist but deep down I wasn’t “feeling it”. I didn’t really believe I was going to hit $400k.
I didn’t really WANT to hit $400k. Well I thought I did but deep down I didn’t….not yet.
I was getting message upon message from the universe that this was NOT going to be the next BIG launch.
And guess what I was totally OK with that.
My launch kinesiologist gave me some really good advice during the last few days of the launch.
She said rather than focusing on a number that doesn’t feel achievable anyway how about you just welcome in the infinite potential that the universe has to offer you?
Demonstrate to the universe that you welcome whoever is ready to join you with open arms. Change your language. Be positive but not attached to a certain number.
So I did. I sat with two of my favorite crystals in my hands on the floor of my office, I lit a candle, rubbed some abundance oil into my palms, closed my eyes and tuned into my source energy and said something along the lines of:
“universe I open myself up to receive all that you have to offer. I know my potential is limitless and that my course is valuable, and valued, and I welcome all those who want to join me this round. I know that everything is working for my highest good. I thank you.”
I felt the energy pulsing through my body.
I felt non-attached.
I felt powerful and abundant.
My launch was a $140k launch. Not my biggest launch but my second biggest launch.
Nearly 100 beautiful souls joined our next round.
And I couldn’t be happier.
I don’t feel stressed or overwhelmed or maxxed out or any of the normal feelings I have when my program starts due to the exponential growth I’ve had over the last few years.
I feel totally aligned and free. The universe will give you what you can handle. But that may not always be what you think you want. Click To Tweet
But remember it is ALWAYS working for your highest good.
My next big launch is coming but it will be when I am ready in every sense of the word.
My husband and I went out for dinner the night the launch ended. We could have decided not to reward ourselves like we do every launch because we didn’t meet our goals. But we went out and bought a beautiful new camera for my business complete with tripod and microphone and then we had a gorgeous dinner together.
During the dinner I said to him “at what point did a $140k launch become a ‘disappointing launch’??, that’s totally crazy!”
We agreed we needed to turn that frown upside down and be totally happy and grateful and amazed that I am creating six-figure+ launches from my heart and my head.
Not every launch has to show growth from your last. Sometimes you will plateau. Sometimes you will even see a decline.
Don’t let your ego tell you that you are shit or that you should give up.
Don’t let it mean anything about you or your business.
I know it is not always easy to see the ‘why’.
I know more than anything you want to build your business.
Show gratitude for the amazing people who HAVE shown up to learn from you.
Take the extra space as a gift to regroup.
Embrace the space.
And know that you best launch is still inside of you and it will happen when you are good and ready.
But don’t fall prey to the hamster wheel of always needing to do more, be more, attain more and compete.
That’s not why you started your business, it won’t bring you bliss, it won’t be what you remember on your death bed.
Just love your work and the rest will come.
